Open the list that you want to edit. I created a custom list with a custom view that shows only my documents. I put the list on a page. When a full control user is on the page they see EDIT IN GRID VIEW instead of what I see : QUICK EDIT.


What would cause this? Also when they click their edit in grid view it throws this error: Something went wrong. Loading chunk failed.

To edit an item in SharePoint, open the list in Quick Launch and point to the item which needs to be edited. An arrow should appear once the cursor touches that area. Click on the arrow and then select Edit Item. Items can also be edited in datasheet view directly or exported spreadsheets and other database programs. Confirm that you have administrative rights to the page and all web parts you will edit.

By default, the Share dialog displays the message Invite people to Edit or Invite people with Can edit permissions.


This grants permissions in the SharePoint Members group. For multiple lines of text columns, set the type to plain text. Make sure in the list view configuration you check the box under the “Tabular View” section. Under Advanced Settings for the list, make sure this one is set to yes.

For example: User A is editing documents, User B is downloading some documents and User C is just viewing the content without touching them. I would like to know whether there is any API to get all changes inside a SharePoint site. But I found out that changes API retrieves changes inside a list. I am wondering is there a way to view the edit history of the site?


I want to be able to see who has edited the site so that I can manage permissions more effectively going forwar because this incident has caused me to lose a lot of time. Most SharePoint pages have the Browse tab on by default, which gives you a breadcrumb-style hierarchy helping you to navigate among pages on the site and see how you arrived at the current page.
