In traditional Salesforce , it is possible to assign tasks to Multiple users including Public Groups, and Roles. In Salesforce Lightning , there is currently only the ability to assign a task to a Single User. In Lightning today a user can create multiple tasks for multiple users. And create multiple tasks - one each for a member of a group.
However, this is only possible when creating tasks from the Tasks tab and not when creating tasks from quick actions or global actions on record pages.
