Don’t go for the name and think that as the names are nearly the same this can be a similarity.

Extranets explained An extranet is a special portion of an intranet to which only authorized users may send and receive information or conduct transactions. It connect computer within the closed network. This network is different from what you have seen before, and only a select group of people can access it.
